Tailwheel endorsement? I must have quit flying before that happened. Most of the aircraft I flew including those ranging from Piper Cubs to Grumman Ag Cats, C-45s and C-47s were taildraggers. No one ever considered that one needed an "endorsement" to fly them. Of course that was in the days before milk stools were considered to have "conventional" landing gear.

I was at the Railhead motel on Glenstone for the Street rod event and got to see you and the Tri-Motor. I and my neighbor at 1AR9 " Country Air " in Lonoke have Pietenpols, maybe we will see you at our breakfast the second saturday every month at 9:00. That would be be three Pietenpols at one time, that should scare the neighbors.

I bought that book when I was around 9 years old. 71 now……

My dad was the pilot that lost his life at mo 32 In golden mo in his experimental aircraft hope to someday get to fly again but it’s been hard I sure do miss this. Thank you for the video it is wonderful

on the third landing he clearly does not touch down on his right if you watch the shadows of his plane

That is awesome, Joe! You apparently scared the crap out of Rusty, who was up flying with you but didn't know about your new smoke system. He thought maybe the Air Camper had become the Air Camp Fire.

Just saw this interview. My Dad was also in 388th, downed by flak (inboard engine!)-July 1943 crew bailed out into Belgium, was hidden awhile by brave underground for some time, but discovered. He survived POW life, served in USAF reserve retiring as a major.( We had air raid drills during worst cold war period- Mom was a warden in our neighborhood.) Some Belgian patriot protectors also survived the war ; sadly I spoke to families of others who did not, sent to camp and never returned. Thanks for posting and taking the time for this project. God bless all servants of true freedom.
